The Aloha Shirt Brands - Alii Lole 1950's

Alii Lole

Alii Lole was a smaller shirtmaker from Hawaii in the 1950's through the 1960's. Translated, "Alii Lole" relates to cloth and clothes for royalty or a king.

The statue of King Kamehameha the Great, bedecked with lei, is surrounded by tikis, trees and the control tower of the old John Rogers Airport with the welcoming words, “Aloha”. Hawaiian-style red roofed homes are nestled in a back country mountain range on spacious grounds.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Hawai‘i, Aloha Tower stands amid palm trees in this original Ali‘i Lole shirt. This 10-story lighthouse, which opened in September 1926, welcomes vessels into Honolulu Harbor to “Hawai‘i the Alohaland.” Visitors would dock here, greeted by sounds from an ‘ukulele and fragrant lei, before embarking into WaikÄ«kÄ« where this lone sailboat lazily drifts past Diamond Head, beckoning visitors to stay a little longer.

In 1951 the Honolulu Airport, which had already been in operation for 24 years, added “international” to its name, signifying Hawai‘i as a global destination for transpacific flights. By this time it was the third-busiest airport in the United States and boasted the longest runway in the world. Millions of people have since arrived to the Islands through this airport, situated in paradise and honored in this Ali‘i Lole design. The statue of King Kamehameha the Great, bedecked with lei, stands proudly against the majestic Ko‘olau Mountains.
